Here lies Peter Parker

Or, the day the seeds of hate against Medicom were planted

Poor Peter Parker. I've never posed him very much and always kept him in an upright position, but yesterday I noticed that his legs looked rather funny (he stood lopsided). After taking a closer look, I realised his right leg was so floppy it just kind of dangled in his pants. This is what I saw after removing his jeans - the right leg had broken off at the hip/pelvic joint. God darn it.

I know it's unrealistic to expect a plastic "toy" to be unbreakable, but a cursory google search reveals that it's not all that uncommon with Medicom bodies. Unlucky people paid good money only to open a brand-new figure out of a box, and find that a limb's already broken. What gives Medicom? I have 4 Medi figures, the most recent being Sweeney Todd (which I'll post photos off later), and I hope they don't suffer Peter Parker's fate. It's not easy at all to get replacement Medicom RAH bodies, cuz unlike HT's True Types, I've never seen them readily available in stores.

More pics of the crime scene after the jump.

So you've seen the pics. Anyone else had the misfortune of this happening? Can I do anything to fix the joint, aside from getting a new Medi body to replace it? I guess I could glue it back, and sacrifice the joint's ability to rotate. Luckily I have one loose Jack Sparrow RAH body as a back-up, and hopefully I'll be able to remove the half-Spiderman-suit that Peter is wearing under his clothes.

Medicom now gets a low score from me, although it certainly doesn't apply to everything they've done before or after the unfortunate Spiderman 3 series. They've done awesome bodies from scratch, from the Edward Elric figure to the Chun Li one released recently. Replacing those "one-of-a-kind" bodies would be next to impossible. Next time, I'll just play it safe and avoid Medi figures unless they impress the hell out of me.

sorry to hear about Peter's demise :( desmond's Darth Maul also suffered from the same fate. That's the problem with Medicom's figures - their Darth Vader has also suffered from peeling leather costume as reported on some forums, especially if left in the box. shouldn't be the case but it happens :( sad but true - SIGH!!

I think I'll go cry with Desmond, haha... The flaking/peeling leather problem makes me very cautious about buying figures wearing that sorta material, call it the curse of our wet climate if you will. I'm just disappointed at Medicom for giving us action figures with brittle bodies. Oh well, at least you seem to have better luck with your Medi figs. ^_^

I think I should be grateful that my Chun Li is still mostly in one piece. One of her hair ribbons broke off when I was pushing it away. But other than that she still okay in spite of the things I put her through

Yeah, it's awesome how Chun Li's custom body can do high kicks, splits and stuff. :)

The regular RAH body isn't very articulate. Peter's arms don't even bend the same amount. Sigh.. I guess if the figure is using Medicom's rehashed RAH body they've used for years, it's more likely to have faults.

Yes Mizu, if Medicom keeps on using the same old technology for making its new bodies. The result is still the same. I guess we just to be more careful when posing Medicom figures..Haiz!!

Mizu, I will apply super glue on the joint permanently if I do not have extra RAH body. If you have, then replace that. Also, how do you take out the clothes from Peter?

Thanks for your input, Desmond. Do you mean the Spiderman costume? On Peter Parker, it's just a half-suit, for his upper torso and arms. If I can't remove it I'll just glue his leg back on.

I never saw this coming, since I never did "play" with the figure. Peter Parker pretty much just stood in my display case for months, and I only discovered the breakage recently. Sigh...

I mean the jacket. I remember the jacket is only allowed to zip up and down but not able to take out from the body.

Mizu said...

Oh, that's easy. I just unzip the jacket as far as it goes, pose Peter's arms above his head and gently tug the jacket off. It's the skin-tight suit I'm worried about removing..

Sorry mate, I don't want to sell Peter Parker's head. It would be cruel to decapitate him after all he's been through. ;_;

Hallo.
I from Russia.
My toy "Medicom RAH" too has broken.
"Death note" Light Yagami.
I have inserted the plug to it into a hip,And it can turn.
The foot keeps well.
But the hand has then flown away also.
