Nendoroid Kagamine Rin & Len

Guess what the pup dragged in from Anime Fest Asia? ^^
We have a Christmas tree up at home, and the Kagamine twins decided to hang out and be ornaments for a bit. Len's head does sort of resemble a star, lol.

Kagamine Rin and Len are "Vocaloids". What is a Vocaloid you ask? Explanation and music videos of the twins dancing and singing after the cut. :D

Vocaloid is a synthesized singing program developed by Yamaha Corporation. Crypton Future Media is a third party developer who took the Vocaloid technology, combined it with good character design and came up with a winning formula. The blue-haired, double-pony-tailed Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) was their first release with Yamaha's Vocaloid2 technology, and she enjoyed tons of free publicity thanks to music videos and comics created by her fans. The twins Kagamine Rin and Len (鏡音リン・レン) were introduced about 4 months later.

The following videos were created by fans, although you can find many more examples around Youtube or Nico Nico Douga (requires registration).

PS - Give the Japanese creator of the above video some credit - Vocaloid2 wasn't programmed explicitly for English pronunciation, hehehe.

so that's a vocaloid. its a bit weird to hear them sing with mild Japanese accent for California dreaming. At least now I figure out where your gren-blue hair girl idea came from *lol* I'm so out of touch current gaming culture

P.S your blog still dislike me and won't let me use the openID to post a comment

Yep. Vocaloid reminds me of the time I tried music composing software at school. It's not easy making decent music, hehe. If Japanese Vocaloids aren't your thing, there are English-based ones such as "opera singer" Miriam. She sounds really good.

I found the Caramel Dansen part a bit annoying lol. When it comes to dance fads, at least the Macarena had more inventive dance moves. XD

I haven't excatly heard Miriam sing a familiar song but I heard Miku and Gakupo sing Phantom of the Opera on Youtube. Gakupo is okay but Miku is not suited for opera. Voice to high (reminds me why I dislike Fivel's version of Somewhere out there. my eardrums would explode each time i hear that version) but fun vid though

"No don't sing for me! You'll burst my eardrums!" *explodes*

I love PotO! I brainwashed on all the songs when I was younger and my dad took me to watch the musical. I loved it when the chandelier almost comes crashing over our heads. XD

I must say tho, Miku is singing in the correct pitch (Christine is a soprano after all). The actual song's finale can almost shatter glass, lol.

Christine type of voice is okay. Miku's synthesized voice for this song scrmabled my sense of hearing *lol*

You're right though, Miku can't compare to Sarah Brightman or any professional singer who's played the role of Christine. Methinks Miku was created for cutesy (and sometimes annoying) anime theme songs. XD
